1. Lonesome Whistle |
2. Put It Back The Way It Was Marty Kupersmith (Pub: Komodo BMI) Originally this was a ballad. The message is the same, only faster. -MK Acoustic Guitar, Vocals - Marty Drums - Jesse Castro Electric Guitar, Bass - Mike Ciliberto Background Vocals - The Martones |
| 3. Spanish Moss Marty Kupersmith (Pub: Komodo BMI) Yeah, I know, Spanish moss is a parasitic plant that ultimately kills its host tree...but on my drives south, along with the Shoney signs and signs for "South of the Border" the sight of Spanish moss was a welcoming harbinger of my destination. The title and indeed most of this tune came to me in a matter of minutes. Its construction is meant to give a Stephen Foster-ish quality. -MK Acoustic Guitar, Vocals, Background Vocals - Marty Bass, Pedal Steel & Electric Guitar - Mike Ciliberto Drums, Background Vocals - Jesse Castro Violin - Ken Kosek |
4. Way Cool Marty Kupersmith (Pub: Komodo BMI) This was written off a Latin chord sequence that intrigued me. I don't know if the title is way cool or not too cool but it works for me! -MK Guitars, Vocals, Background Vocals - Marty Drums & Percussion - Jesse Castro Bass, Keys, Background Vocals - Peppy Castro |
| 5. When I'm With You Fuqua & Dallas (Pub: ARC Music) The Moonglows were great and while this wasn't one of their biggest hits, I always loved it. Bobby Lester was an incredibly soulful lead and the group's confident harmonies always put me away! I humbly attempt to capture some of this feeling in my rendition. . -MK Acoustic Guitar, Keys, Vocals - Marty Drums - Jesse Castro Electric Guitar, Bass - Mike Ciliberto Background Vocals - The Martones |
6. Chucky (Didn't Make It 'Cross The Road) Marty Kupersmith (Pub: Komodo BMI) The inspiration for this ditty came one day when I was driving behind a road crew painting a new white line on the street. In disbelief I watched as they painted a white line right over the body of a dead woodchuck! -MK Acoustic Guitars & Vocals - Marty Drums - Jesse Castro Electric Guitar & Bass - Mike Ciliberto |
| 7. Cry Me A River Arthur Hamilton (Pub: Chappell Music) The only hit written by Hamilton and the only hit sung by Julie London. It was also successful by Joe Cocker...Willy Castro had been gone almost a year when I was considering doing Cry Me A River. One day Willy's son Jesse and I wandered into her sewing / sanctuary room which hadn't been changed since her death. There standing upright on her dresser was a lone 33 1/3 album. I instantly recognized the sultry face gazing out at me and in shock I said to Jesse "Look at that album." Jesse said "Yeah, my mom had tons of these. So what?" "No," I said handing him the album. "Read the liner notes and tell me song one, side one" ...It was Julie London's album and of course song one, side one is Cry Me A River. Jesse looked at me and said "My Mom wants you to do it!" ...So I did and like Joe Cocker I've taken liverties...made it a bit bluesy. -MK Shaker, Vocals, Keys - Marty Electric Guitar - Mike Ciliberto Drums - Jesse Castro Bass, Keys - Peppy Castro Alto Sax - Jim Mullen |
8. In Case You Didn't Know Marty Kupersmith & Robert Fitoussi (Pub: Komodo BMI) This is a trans-continental song having been written over the phone and mp3s with Robert in Paris and me in New York state. -MK Acoustic Guitar, Keys, Vocals - Marty Electric Guitar & Bass - Mike Ciliberto Drums - Jesse Castro Keys - Peppy Castro |
| 9. Baby Hit The Wall Marty Kupersmith (Pub: Komodo BMI) No, This isn't about anyone I know. It was inspired by an early morning DJ expounding on specific female movie stars who... "hit the wall" and were not as "hot" as the once were. -MK Acoustic Guitar, Vocals, Background Vocals - Marty Electric Guitar - Mike Ciliberto Drums, Background Vocals - Jesse Castro Bass - Peppy Castro |
10. I Think She Needs Me Now Marty Kupersmith (Pub: Komodo BMI) I wrote this some years back and though it worthy of dusting off and getting a shiny, new treatment. It's a simple lyric byt I like it...So there! -MK Acoustic Guitar, Keys, Vocals - Marty Electric Guitar & Bass - Mike Ciliberto Drums - Jesse Castro Background Vocals - The Martones |
| 11. Twisted (Like A Gallows Rope) Marty Kupersmith & Charles Lyonhart (Pub: Komodo BMI / Ain't Waitin ASCAP) This happy little ditty came to me in my car as a kind of Celtic folky guitar riff. I called my buddy, Charlie who's always good for a laugh and together we finished it off. -MK Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Horrible Bass, Vocals - Marty Bass - Peppy Castro Drums, Electric Guitars - Jesse Castro Background Vocals - The Martones |
12. Just The Same Marty Kupersmith (Pub: Komodo BMI) Some years ago, some jazz guitarist showed me a chord sequence... and I finally found a song to fit the chords and a lady to inspire the lyric. -MK Acoustic Guitar, Vocals - Marty Electric Guitar & Bass - Mike Ciliberto Drums - Jesse Castro Alto Sax - Jim Mullen Background Vocals - The Martones |
| 13. Oh Look At Me Now Joe Bushkin & John DeVries (Pub: Hamshire House) When the lovely Willy Castro asked what the name of my project was and I told her "From Hank To Frank" she then asked which Sinatra song I was thinking of doing. I told her "Oh Look At Me Now" and she burst into song telling me that her dad had been a big band singer and that she was familiar with most of the tunes from that era. When I requested she sing the Connie Haines part, Willy who was terminally ill and on major pain meds tried to beg off. She finally agreed to do it on condition that I lose the "hokey" rendition I had been playing and come up with a "hipper" groove. This done, she sang like an angel for me and I'm sure she's singing with them now!... Miss you, Willy. -MK Acoustic Guitar, Background Vocals, Vocals - Marty Bass, Background Vocals - Peppy Castro Drums, Background Vocals - Jesse Castro Violin - Ken Kosek Vocals, Background Vocals - Willy Castro |
